Fisher & Paykel have issued a precautionary warning to its customers regarding several of its single door dishwashers manufactured between 2006 and 2008.
Several reports of a faulty door latch prompted Fisher & Paykel to ask customers to contact the company and arrange to have a technician fit a replacement part at no charge.
Consumers who have conventional dishwasher models DW60CS and DW60CD with serial numbers starting with the letters FA6, FA7 and FA8 should contact Fisher & Paykel as soon as possible to get this issue resolved. Both the model and the serial numbers can be found on the left-hand side of the door panel.
Matt Orr, the vice president of corporate planning and investor relations, explained that although this problem will only impact a small number of machines, Fisher & Paykel are moving quickly to prevent any potential risks.
On August 15th, 2012, Matt Orr said “Affected dishwashers can continue to be used until the new part is replaced so long as an adult is present until the completion of the cycle,”
“However, we advise against overnight use before the part is installed. We are also advising customers to monitor for leaks, and not to use the dishwasher if there is excessive water on the handle, or any smoke or smell is detected.”
He also added that Fisher & Paykel techs can easily install this part without having to disassemble the machine and customers can be sure that the new part will bring their machines up to current standards.
