The washing machine stopped, and you used to plan to hang a little wet laundry… but instead found that things in the washing machine “float” in water, perhaps even soap.
So what could have happened to the washing machine, why did it stop draining the water? It could be a malfunction as well as a regular situation. For starters, let’s check everything out…
If you have not made a mistake with the choice of the program and all “external communications” are normal – we are talking about a breakdown in the machine itself. In this case, we recommend switching off the washing machine from the mains, removing laundry from the tank and draining the water with the drain filter (it is located in a small hatch at the bottom of the machine).
Don’t forget to set the pelvis or bucket – so that the water from the machine doesn’t spill on the floor!
Below we will describe the main types of malfunctions that can cause the washing machine not to drain water. At this stage, we recommend that you contact a service centre and call a washing machine repair wizard for an accurate diagnosis.
Breakdown | What’s the problem? |
Clogging of the water drain filter or nozzle | There was a blockage in the system. As a rule, there is a filter in front of the drain pump. It traps threads, lint and small objects that can cause the pump to fail if it gets into the drain pump. It is possible that this filter is clogged to such an extent that it does not let water pass. It needs to be cleaned. To do so, unscrew the filter and rinse it under a jet of water. If a blockage has occurred in a spigot, then the machine body must be opened. In this case, it is likely that you will not need a technician… |
Pump malfunction | The pump is defective. The pump in the washing machine looks like a small carousel. Rotating at high speed, it kicks the water out into the sewer hole. If the pump is burnt out, it needs to be replaced. |
Control module (in electronic washing machines) or programmer (in models with electromechanical control) is faulty | If the control module fails, the signal from the board is not fed to the pump motor and water is not drained. The control module needs to be repaired. |
Water level sensor defective | If the pressostat (water sensor) breaks down, it does not detect that there is still water in the machine. The control module receives a signal that all water has been drained and the program can be terminated. The sensor needs to be replaced. |
