Wipe Down the Outside
First, wipe down the outside of your Maytag washing to remove dust, dirt and lint. You should use a soft cloth or sponge with mild soap. Do not use any harsh cleaners or abrasive products on your Maytag washing machine. Afterward, rinse the machine with fresh water and wipe it dry.
Wipe the Sope Dispenser
Second, if your machine has a dispenser opening or drawer for detergent, you will want to wipe it clean of residue and debris. If your machine’s dispenser is not removable, you can swipe the opening with a cloth and wipe it dry. If your machine has a drawer, make sure to remove the dispenser drawer completely and disassemble it to remove any inserts. You can wash the parts with soapy water, dry them, and reassemble before returning the drawer to the washing machine. More information about it in this article …
Clean the Drum Once a Month
Third, the washing machine’s drum should be cleaned about once a month. Use half the detergent you would normally use for an average sized load of laundry and run your machine as if you were washing a medium sized load. Some Maytag washing machines also have a sanitize cycle. To use this feature, put a cup of bleach into the bleach dispenser and follow the directions in your owner’s manual. If you or a family member is sensitive to bleach, you can replace it with hydrogen peroxide. Call us at ️(800)657-0765
Leave the Door Open to Prevent Molding
Last, after the interior cleaning cycle, wipe the drum with a damp sponge to remove any remaining dirt or soap residue. Then wipe again with a dry cloth. You will want to leave the lid or door open slightly to allow for thorough drying to prevent mold or mildew. (You should always leave the door or lid open slightly for this reason.) Inspect and Clean the Door Seal if Needed
If your Maytag washing machine is a front load variety, inspect the door seal once every two weeks to make sure it does not trap water, soap or odor-creating residue. If you do find that it is trapping liquid or solids, remove what you find and wipe down the seal with a diluted bleach solution and then dry with a soft towel. Additionally, if your Maytag washing machine is a front loader, you will need to check the filter regularly. To do so, you will have to remove the lower front panel from the machine. Use a Shop Vac to clean out the drain hose that is located next to the filter. Remove the pump filter cap, then the filter. Rinse the filter with hot water, wash it with bleach, and then rinse again with water to remove any remaining bleach before returning the filter to the machine.
While operating a Maytag washing machine on a regular basis is a snap, if you want to keep it working its best, a regular cleaning is in order. Have you cleaned your washing machine lately? Call us at ️(800)657-0765
